Why Preconception Care?

Getting pregnant is supposed to be something that just happens naturally, right?

New parents can be so excited about starting a family that they just stop birth control and jump right into it.

Most couples don’t think of it as something they need to prepare for before they even begin trying to conceive.

The conversation most often goes like this…“We’re ready, let’s go for it!” And then they excitedly wait for that positive pregnancy test.

With some couples, getting pregnant is a breeze, while others find it confusing and disheartening when nothing has happened after 6 or more months.

Whether it’s a couple who got pregnant on the first go or one who has been trying for 6 months with no luck the big question is…

Is it really that important to follow a preconception healthcare plan?”

The answer…

Yes, if you want to have an easier conception, pregnancy, labor and delivery.

Absolutely yes if you want to ensure that your new baby has the best start possible in life with his or her health.

Preconception care provides much more value than just helping a couple conceive more easily or avoid miscarriages.

Dedicating 4 months for both parents to get their bodies into optimum nutritional health ensures:

  1. A most favorable environment to produce healthy sperm and eggs and where a new baby can grow and thrive. This happens by first starting with a Detox to reduce inflammation and remove toxins.

  1. Embryo has excellent nutritional support from the get go - Making sure all the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients needed are there to support development of the brain and spinal cord which happens within the first 4 weeks of the embryo implanting.

  • Better hormonal health - This is time to regulate the menstrual cycle, and address any issues of PCOS, cysts, fibroids, or thyroid imbalances. Also less issues of morning sickness during that first trimester.

  • Easier conception, labor, delivery -  All types of stress (physical, mental, emotional, financial, familial, career, etc) affect your ability to conceive. Having a good self-care routine set in place preconception will benefit your entire pregnancy, labor, delivery and the health of the baby.

  • Increased health of newborn child - Ensures the pregnancy has a better chance of being full-term, with less chances of your child developing things like allergies, asthma, ADHD, cognitive disorders, and more.

  • Less chance of mom developing Postpartum depression -  By making sure your hormones are in balance before conception and maintaining good nutritional health before and during pregnancy will reduce your chances of postpartum hormone imbalances.
